  • I’ve been too busy to do too much here lately, but I thought I’d post this brilliant video animating Paul Rand’s designs and philosophy.

  • I recently got a copy of Stylepedia and decided instead of just reading it, I would try and attempt to design something in each style. The first entry is Agit Retro, where you take actual propaganda posters and modernize the message. Designer Micah Wright started doing this in 2003.
Not sure how much I like it, but here’s my first attempt. The font on the bottom is Nougat.

  • I made this mix to celebrate some of the Dallas (and Denton) bands I love as well as the city itself as we depart Texas in a week. Almost all of these bands you can purchase their albums on iTunes, which I highly recommend. Young and Brave you can purchase on BandCamp. There are so many more good bands from Dallas and Denton and Fort Worth than are here, but even just putting this together has made me realize how good this scene is and how grateful I am for getting to play with them and even better, getting to be friends with so many of these bands. Enjoy.

Download the mix here, it was too big for Tumblr. (Note, just right click Dallas_Mixcast.mp3 and select “Save File As…” to download the Mp3).

  • Logo I did for my Aunt Barb’s business, Stella’s Stories. She makes custom jewelry, the one she made me has a picture of my Mom as a little girl. I love it! I’m wearing it today. Her site will be live soon.

  • A quick image inspired by the song “Let it Grow.” I really love this song. The first time I heard it I already felt like I knew it. It’s by my good friend Ian Mesey, and both his bands, Noonday Morningstar, and Young and Brave have played it live. The recording has his lovely girlfriend, Alexis, singing.
The original image is here. I think I found the vintage postcard/nature image on FFFFOUND.
